We are the Broward Information Resource for under-served families, individuals and neighborhoods. Our purpose is to assist people with special needs or social barriers to improve access to employment, public transit, government, human services, healthcare, housing, child-care, training, educational, and other information that can empower them to achieve economic equality and self-sufficiency. If you are a Broward County resident, or planning to move to South Florida, and you are a TANF recipient, low-income person, searching for your first real job, completing a work force development training program, involved in a welfare to work program, or just plain old unemployed then the Virtual Community South Florida is the place for you. The Virtual Community South Florida is a WEB Portal (members only join below), managed by the Institute for Community Empowerment in collaboration with the Dorsey Riverbend, Governors Front Porch Revitalization Council. Funding for the site, and services to create a neighborhood-based, network of Communications Centers that facilitate broad public access, is provided by the Broward County Board of County Commissioners Division of Mass Transit. Advertising and subscriber support are also used to maintain this site. |
